1. USC notifies the State to send claims directly to our office. This saves staff time, eliminates penalties for late claims and ensures response to claims in time to appeal them.

2. USC account team provides basic separation information to State. We will electronically access the initial separation information we need to process claims from your system or we can contact you by e-mail, fax, or telephone — you tell us what works best for you.

3. USC account team obtains information provided to State by former employee. Once we have the information, we can prepare the rebuttal. Of course we will contact you to let you know what your former employee is now telling the State.

4. USC account team prepares case with company representative and presents it to the State. Once we have the facts from you we will make sure they are presented and recorded by the State so it can make an informed decision. This is the best way to limit time-consuming hearings.

5. Your USC team hearing consultant and team leader review decisions for appeal with you directly. If benefit claims are granted, we will discuss the decision and work with you directly on the appeal.

6. Preparation for hearings by your USC consultant. To avoid losing the case due to hearsay, we will prepare and coach a staff member attending the hearing, explain the process, and go over the issues to be discussed well before the hearing date.

7. Claims logged into USC database so that we can prepare for appeals. Each month the State will send us the unemployment charges to your account. Any information that we receive from you or the State that impacts the payment of benefits is logged in — saving your staff data-gathering time while allowing us to quickly verify charges.

8. Charges audited and if necessary, resolved by USC team. Annually, we uncover several million dollars of incorrect, state-assigned charges. Due to the cumbersome systems used by the different states, it often takes several months of persistence to recover these monies. Your USC auditing staff will pursue each case until it is resolved to our satisfaction.

9. USC verifies your annual taxes and calculates voluntary contributions. Outstanding errors and overlooked balance transfers from mergers and acquisitions are the most common reasons for protesting the annual tax rate. Many states allow employers to add money to their account to lower the annual tax. If you are a non-profit organization, we will assist you in selecting the least costly method of financing your charges — tax or reimbursement.

10. USC Management reports help you evaluate and accurately budget unemployment costs. We will agree on the type of information that you would like to receive and its frequency. The data may also be retrieved immediately online or in hard copy when you need it.
